Is it used in a bigger machine? Something like a gear?
引用する: "CassTaylor"Is it used in a bigger machine? Something like a gear?
not in a bigger machine.
It is used all by itself, but it does nothing by itself. Something else needs to go with it.
It might still be used in your house. If you can figure out what other building it is used in , you will figure the object quicker.
Is it a tool for DIY or for a craftsman ?
is it sold in a supermarket or in a specialized store ?

It could be used by a craftsman (might be a stretch for the definition of craftsman)

Might be in a supermarket but don't think about that store too much as it is not food related.
Would be in a store that sells general merchandise.
Could you give us some clues about the "something else" that goes along with it?

Is it a wire/cord, battery, etc.
No batteries or electronic items go with it. This object enhances the other object that goes around and around in it. Can’t say too much about the other object as it will give the answer away.

Children use it more than adults.
a pencil sharpener ?

You're right :8D
Referee of south atlantic islands
Also useful for appreciating the UV features on some modern banknotes too!

OK, my object; this is not an object you use in daily life; in fact most of us have probably never seen it in person before, although it does appear on some coins.
Was it used in a house?
It wasn't "used" very often; it's mostly symbolic and decorative.

But when it was used, it was always in a cathedral. Big hint right there! ;)
Is it
- a garment ?
- used for standard office, wedding celebration or mortuary ?
- a furniture ?
- a music instrument ?
Referee of south atlantic islands
Is it a vessel to hold a liquid?
No to all of the above, I'm afraid.
How about another hint
OK, this object is made of gold and ivory, and it has been used since the high Middle Ages, but only in one country.
Is it used during processions like Easter, for example?
Is it a shrine or a reliquary?
A crown ?
A Ferula ?
A scepter ?
The elephant of Charlemagne in the Aachen cathedral ?
A relic containing a piece of the actual holy cross ?
Referee of south atlantic islands
It's used during special events, but not ones like Easter or Christmas.

It's not a shrine, a crown, a ferula, a relic with the holy cross, or Charlemagne's elephant in Aachen, but it is a sceptre.

Remember, you can find it on some old coins! ;)
Could it be a Trident?
No, not a trident.
Could you tell us of which countr(ies) these coins might be?
Unless we're speking of a crosier, or a bishop's staff...
I collect anything: If it's Italian or Italian states i collect it even more!
These coins are from France, but the object only appears on French coins of a specific period (possibly a few medieval coins also have it depicted).
The hand of Justice ?
Referee of south atlantic islands
Yes!

In case anyone wants to see it on coins it is visible on the ones of the Second Empire:

Don't think it was that expensive to build.

Not so outdated, the last execution in France with it was only in 1977- and it could still be used up to 1981!

During the French Revolution they used to make toy guillotines that could be used on dolls too.
So:

I am tall, official, and mostly correlated with France.

Eiffel Towers?
(plural because of all the knockoffs around the world from Las Vegas to China)

Or if that's also too big, baugettes?
Baguettes are the right order of magnitude size wise, but not the right answer
I collect anything: If it's Italian or Italian states i collect it even more!
Is it a food item?
Maybe one of the Eiffel tower shaped bottles of cognac sold as tourist souvenirs?

No!
it's Official.
I collect anything: If it's Italian or Italian states i collect it even more!
What do you mean by "official", is it part of a uniform or something?

My second guess would be the coiffe used by Breton women:

Sinon, is it anything we can see here?
If one has read Goscinny's "le petit Nicolas", it seems Rufus would have special access to one of these.
Along with his "sifflet".

What! That is not very tall! Policemen wear them, yes, but they are also worn by railway conductors and the French military (as you can see by the "female llama surprised in her bath above" wearing one) :O. I think they are also used by a few other countries too.

OK, my next item is a beverage to be consumed, although whether you should consume it is debatable, and whether you should even spend your hard earned cash on it is also questionable.
