1688年、金と銀の価格は20％上昇した。流通貨幣を集めて鋳造する時間がなかった。そこで、1688年8月4日の法律により、銀貨と金貨の価値も20％引き上げられた。しかし、150年の間、硬貨の価値は変わらず、流通硬貨の価値は額面の20％増であった。
