They haven’t arrived yet, but I’m getting a french 20 francs (trimetallic, I think it’s dated 1992) and a 83.5% silver Italian 500 lire coin (I believe it’s dated 1957) as well as two 40% silver American half dollars from a family friend in Italy. There’s other coins as well but I forgot what they were so I’ll post again on this thread when they arrive!

That has got to be the nicest toning i have ever seen!! Amazing..
My first additions for June are much cheaper than May
First of all a great thing to find just after a long weekend and in a country with 3 day a week delivery.
All contain COINS
First up a replacement Halfcrown - this AU/UNC 1945 replaces a very worn 1945
A New Zealand 3d from 1942 that is missing the right diamond - a scarce but not rare variety, yet missing from my collection until now - Its quite worn.
No diamond at right side
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.
Member of the Royal Numismatic Society of New Zealand and the Auckland Numismatic Society
10 British pennies - the 1949 is gEF and the 1961/67 are all AU/UNC - all very cheap and not much more than the usual VF examples you see.
Great lustre
New Zealand 1990 coin set, this was the first year of the $1 and $2 coin and it was cheap to get them UNC as most surviving 1990 Dollars are Fine at best.
The 20 cents was the first year of the "Pukaki" design and the 5c, 10c and 50c were set only coins.
Finally 3 world lots of Israel, Turkey and Denmark.
Including the 10 new shekels of Israel and 20, 10, 5 Kroner of Denmark along with many beautiful historic pieces
Cost for everything in above 2 posts - $75 NZD
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

Some new romans arrived today:
As - Emperor Claudius - Minerva throwing spear - Possibly British strike during the invasion of Britiannia? ( http://augustuscoins.com/ed/imit/imitclaudius.html )
As - Emperor Domitian - VIRTVTI AVGVSTI - Very nice portrait of the emperor
Small Follis - Divo Constantio - Coin stuck under Emperor Constantine for the remembrance of his divine father
Follis - Emperor Licinius I - IOVI CONSERVATORI
Beautiful and historic pieces - that Claudius coin is very much a centrepiece that would fit in an exhibit on British history.
And the Domitian coin, reminds me of the satires of Juvenal we studied at high school - Domitian did not get much of a good rap from him, sounds like he was very much the Donald Trump of his era (Even though Juvenal was pretty twitter and bisted!).
Maybe I need to abandon this Halfcrown/Penny obsession and start collecting Romans too!
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

Collecting romans is awesome if you are interested in their history and even lower budgets like mine can get quite some nice coins.
Btw Domitian was most likely a very competent ruler who had a difficult relationship with the senate that unluckily included most historians of that era. Storys like his wish to be called a god by his subject are unlikely real and most likely just a slander they threw at every emperor they didnt like. I think an emperor that really would claim to be a god would show this not just on his statues but on his coins too.

Love the detail on the Small Follis - Divo Constantio coin....very intricate....plus your fine photography skills.

Last Friday I had to go to my hometown to give some oficial papers and guess how many letters were waiting for me since last month... hope there is no problem to post them now since i got them now
I live in my girlfriends hometown 50km away from mine by land, 18km by sea... but they are in different provinces so by law i wasnt able to go there due to Covid-19/Coronavirus, not even to visit my family
Since there will be quite a few new additions, i will try to post the best ones (in my opinion)
Se queres ca muller che queira, ten diñeiro na carteira
Another 50 Centimos 1926 - Alfonso XIII 6th portrait. I cant get tired of that beautifull desing. Like many other pre Spanish Civil War coins, its price its starting to go up and up without reason (for me).
Wanted for a long time 25 Centimos 1938 - II Republic; got it really cheap, 1.80€ when its already hard to find them here in Spain under 6€. Ironically this week i got two more and 1 of thoose will replace this one below
5 Céntimos and 10 Céntimos - Iberian rider in a wonderfull condition. Bought them to have one example of each in such good condition and also for a little work that I want to do related to them (so i will need good detailed examples). Probably both are one of the easy spanish coins to get but its hard to find nothing better than F. Also i paid next to nothing for them
And not a coin but related to the end of the Peseta and the start of the Euro. This "cards" where given to know how was the equivalence between pesetas and euros; I may say they were given arround mid 2001 or at the start of 2002, when we got the Euro and the Peseta was starting to desapear from circulation (few months were given to "undestand" how the new currency work). You know perfectly how they work, depending of the angle, you can see the pesetas value and the euros equivalence
I was a 9 years old kid at that time and I remember for sure playing with this cards with my little brother and seeing my really missed grandfather learning the equivalences; also calculators with two displays (one for euros and the other for pesetas) were given to a lot of shops; I would say that my mom keep hers but has stopped working long time ago
Lastly, an Ancient related to Spain that i didnt found yet in the catalogue, a Denarius from Trajano, not in the best shape but one of my personal milestones
Tomorrow I will try to post some world coins
Se queres ca muller che queira, ten diñeiro na carteira
Hilarious love the image and the Spanish coins. I seem to have a few of the 1970 series, a 5 and 10 copper centimos and a holed 1 Peseta from 1870.
My latest pair are a 2 coins I have coveted for a long time!
1937 Southern Rhodesia Halfcrown
1932 (1st year) Southern Rhodesia Halfcrown
Not rare, rare but incredibly hard to find here and they fill my Halfcrowns type set well. They were not cheap either, but reasonably priced for their age and condition.
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

引用する: "Dato Mikeladze" - Tunisia 2 kharoubs : Abd-al -Aziz / Muhammad As`Sadik Bay
- Sasanian dakhm, need to be identified
Georgia, Queen Tamar, nice-shaped coin like Georgian native , Adjarian Khachapuri :)
Poland large silver ( it will for swap or sale)
Those are some really interesting coins - that Georgian Skillet shaped coin is really something else!
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

Here go the world additions i told you. I paid really good prices for most of them, some times much more than under melt; had a lot of luck with this purchases
1 Franc 1867 - Léopold II French text and 1 Gulden 1965 - Juliana. Always wanted a coin from Leopold II... what a beard. Was lucky to get BOTH (silver) coins 1.50€ when only the Juliana one is 2.35€ melt (and i didnt knew that was silver, i was going for Leopold )
1 Ruble 1899- Nikolai II. This was an all in, seller didnt gave a single detail of the coin, only photos. This was not a cheap addition, paid 10€ (almost melt) and I am very happy to have another Nikokai in my collection even in low grade.
2 Centesimi 1867 and 5 Centesimi 1861 - Vittorio Emanuele II. With nice hair detail, hope you can see the gosting in the 2 centesimi
5 Centesimi - Pivs XI. Always happy to get another Vatican coin even in this low grade
3 Mark Weimar Constitution 1922 and 500 Mark 1923. 0.25 euro cents each and they are at least in AU condition!! the 3 Mark has a huge amount of die cracks ("bird" side) and also two or 3 round "punches"; I might ask for info in ID section
Some new romans and 2 french tokens for this week:
Emperor Carus - VIRTVS AVGG
Emperor Maxentius - CONSERV VRB SVAE = Protector of his city - Showing Maxentius as protector of Rome and he truly was Romes last hope to stay the capital of the empire
Emperor Magnentius - GLORIA ROMANORVM - Nice cavalry charge on the reverse, you can see the enemy infantryman has thrown away his broken spear and his shield and is begging for mercy now which he probably will not receive
And now the 2 french tokens:
King Louis XIII - Token celebrating his wedding with Anne of Austria - 1615
King Louis XIV - Token celebrating the arrival of his soon-to-be wife Maria Theresa of Spain in Paris before their wedding -1660
引用する: "alfonz"Emperor Maxentius - CONSERV VRB SVAE = Protector of his city - Showing Maxentius as protector of Rome and he truly was Romes last hope to stay the capital of the empire
More precisely, he had restored the Temple of Rome and Augustus (shown on the reverse) which had burnt a few years before. So, a nice historical and commemorative type.

Certainly meant to be stamped into a letter's wax seal? This would explain the "JE SUIS PRESSÉ" = "I'm in a rush" legend ─ an incentive to have the letter delivered quickly.
I suppose the other legend would be useful if you sent a love letter...

Interesting !
Who's the seller ?
Just someone on eBay who i purchase a lot of my silver from - he sold me a load of his 'junk' coins and it was a really great variety. He does not list bulk coins for sale but i contacted him specifically and asked, £5 a KG which i was more than happy to pay. It was a shame he did not have much as he sells to other dealers who buy up most his stock :(

Can you please tell me his name and I could enhance my collection.
Seems like a good bargain at £5/kg.
Thanks & regards

EDIT: Note this possible "attache de cape" (i.e. the type of button to fasten a cape) in silver. On one side: "au ciel l'aspire" (would the be a Christian motto?) and on the other: "se rejoindre ou mourir".
引用する: "Frenchlover"It's the typical type of a "bouton cachet galant" from the XVIIIth century
For example we can get : 'au ciel j'aspire' 'se rejoindre ou mourir'
The other side is two halves of a snake. Lettering 'Se rejoindre ou mourir'.
It is like this one, which sold for a huge amount - way way more than I paid for mine ... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/143597134815
'Description: Victorian Motto, Intaglio Seal Of A Serpent Divided Attempting To Rejoin.
Se Rejoindre Ou Mourir. Translates: Unite Or Die. Measures 16 mm'. [Thickness 3mm]
It is now night-time here, so with false lighting I now quickly made these ...
One side is slightly more shiny than the other: I also reversed the second pictures.
I got it (from the same seller as the Rech. Pfen. jeton with the lion) as I got years ago
at least one other like it - with a harp one side and an apple on the other ...
TOUJOURS D'ACCORD // VOUS LA MÉRITEZ when reversed in second pictures.
beautiful lustre! is it relatively easy to find these coins in such pristine condition? I feel the Deutsch Ostafrika coins are many a times quite mangled
引用する: "Mr. Midnight"some new pieces
all cheap stuff, some "cleaned", some other...
Those are some nice coins, the 10 Lepta (Greek?), the Panamanian silver and the lovely Australian shilling are good finds, especially the shilling as those are hard to find in conditions like that.
Just one coin for me - but what a coin!
A William III Halfcrown from 1696, always love getting a 17th century coin!
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

The 1696 Halfcrown I bought last week and these two.
1903 and 1904 halfcrowns, just leaving the 1905 - The 1903 is gVG/aFine and is almost as scarce as 1905. The 1904 is a semi key - but this is a decent coin - gFIne to aVF and probably my best Eddie halfcrown. They are a great score.
A gVF New Zealand 1957 Sixpence and you are probably all saying "so what" - except its the scarce "Strapless variety". They stopped using this bust in 1955.
The coin at right shows the usual "Strapped bust". I was happy to get this error very cheap.
World mixes for me this week
Jersey - love mix of uncirculated coins including 1957 and 1964 3d, 1960 Penny, ½p, 1p, 2p and 10p of the New pence series and nice group of 5 modern coins. Not rare or expensive but some nice shiny examples.
Tanzania interesting mix of coins from 5c (Tano) to 10 shillings (Shilingi Kumi) and these include the 1966 and 1971 sets.
A good week in all and may be adding another 17th century halfcrown later on.
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.
Member of the Royal Numismatic Society of New Zealand and the Auckland Numismatic Society
I have been slowly building a collection of silver BRD 5 mark coins, which series includes many commemoratives.
The 1964-J Fichte is a scarcer date. I would have agreed to the price of this piece without a slab.
Jamais l'or n'a perdu la plus petite occasion de se montrer stupide. -Balzac

The new ones arrived with a few more other coins
I got lucky again and got good prices for the next examples; I was thinking about selling two of them, the one I quote and one of the new ones, but I found that the new ones have an identical big die crack and I guessed they may stay together.
You can see the die crack between PER (from republica), all the way through the book, date and chain till A (española)
This week 3 big silver lots that nearly bankrupted me again.
40% silver mix, relatively cheap mix of Swedish post war stuff, very cheap
80% silver mix, some Nice Phillipine pesos, Egyptian, south africa etc
72% silver mix, mostly Dutch - a good way to get bulk silver at 5% above melt
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

Some more romans for the end of this month:
Empress Faustina the younger (wife of Emperor Marc Aurel) - FECVNDITAS
Emperor Commodus - Bad boy son of Emperor Marc Aurel and Faustina
Emperor Gordian III - DIANA LVCIFERA - The roman moon goddess. I have read that this coin has been minted to around Gordians wedding.
Emperor Gordian III - FELICIT TEMP - Nice portrait of the young man Gordian with his first beard. Those are a bit rarer than the many child faced coin and marble portraits of him. Sadly he wouldnt survive to get older
Received yesterday with the precious help of JustforFun this 1841 Jersey 1/26 of a shilling with the well known Canadian countermark of Joseph Rouleau:
This is the first attestation of this undertype with the Rouleau c/m. In Brunk's book it's # R-551. A few Jersey coins of this type circulated in colonial Canada, no doubt as halfpennies.
I noticed that the new USPS envelopes are almost impossible to loot. If you work at a postal facility and target some senders' envelopes because you know they send valuable items, you have no choice but to steal the whole envelope... which is too big to be concealed easily. That's good news.

picked up this bad boy a 1968 New Zealand coin set for a dollar on eBay and with free shipping.
Good score, those go for about $10 - $20 here, you have the pink standard coins, the blue ones are proofs.
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

1935 3d - Mintage 40k - looks better than it is - this would grade gFine to aVF
Glad to have it though.
These folders of British farthings and Halfpence
Some of these coins are just stunning!
I am just blown away - the rare 1863 is also a near EF coin
And its the same to 1956, 90% are at least VF and all from 1930 onwards are EF or AU with several UNC coins
Standard 1940s coins.
The collection of farthings cost me $120 NZD
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

For $50 I got a less spectacular but still near complete set of Halfpennies
Average coin is VG - Fine but quite a few Fair ones like the scarce 1864, you can just see enough of the date to make out a 4 and all the 1861's and 1875H are the same.
One big highlight is an AU 1891 coin - common date - but still a bun head halfpenny with lustre is a beautiful sight.
The later coins were standard to above average, most KE7 and KGV was fine and VF - EF for later.
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.
