Hi

I came across a few coins which could be listed under multiple issuers.

e.g. #1:
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces77179.html
It is listed under Austrian states (as per KM#). However, it was an issue of Tarasp, Swiss Canton of Graubunden. It's listed accordingly in the Swiss HMZ# catalog and in some auctions.

e.g. #2:
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces1224.html
The 1804G was minted in Geneva, and listed by HMZ and auction houses under Geneva.

This can be messy if KM# refers to a different issuer.

Some options:
A. Be pragmatic, just list them in one issuer and deal with it in the comments.
B. Be able to list coins under multiple issuers
C. Have some sort of "coin avatar" or link. So the coin would be listed under one issuer only, but under the other issuer(s) it belongs to, there is a link to it. So with e.g.#2 in mind, the coin is listed under France. But I also see in under Geneva. However, when I click on it in Geneva, it will redirect me to the French coin, maybe with a note like on Wikipedia "Geneve 5 Francs 1803 redirects here"

#1 - definetly Austria
(Mit dem Reichsdeputationshauptschluss von 1803 fiel Tarasp als letzte österreichische Enklave an die Helvetische Republik, aus der die heutige Schweiz hervorging. ~ With the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss of 1803 Tarasp fell as the last Austrian enclave to the Helvetic Republic, from which today's Switzerland emerged.)
#2 - depending on if the coin wasn't just made there but also exclusivly for circulation there this particular year and mintmark should be under Switzerland with crosslinkage to the original coin page.

For the same kind of stuff we have this redundant Australian coin pages just so collectors of a particular field ney touch pages of foreign lands 8~
Hi Idolenz,

Thanks for the info. The coin is listed by Krause under the Nikolsburg line. HMZ explains that in 1684, HR Emperor Leopold I granted Ferdinand von Dietrichstein-Nicolsburg (1636-1698) the castle and region of Tarasp as "Freie Reicherrschaft". Ferdinand minted coins in his own name with "Dominus in Trasp". The Dietrichstein coins during the same period were issued by Sigismund Helfried von Dietrichstein-Pulsgau (1664-1698). So Tarasp for this short period was an independent Herrschaft, directly under the HR Emperor, and being geographically in Graubuenden, HMZ lists it accordingly.

Anyway. I think it's less relevant if Krause of HMZ is right. The important thing is such differences exist and coins are listed under different issuers. This happens a lot with ancient coins, celtic coins too.

So being able to add within a certain issuer links to coins from other issuers would solve this nicely.

There could be a field called "Alternative/other/secondary issuing authorities" and coins also appear under these issuers:

However, it might be technically complicated to implement, and in truth, there are very few coins with this problem. Even with all the ancients, it's probably not a high priority.

For now, do we chose the more "popular" catalog (i.e.KM) or the more specialised one which is likely the more accurate historically?
