Having just watched a program, for the umpteenth time, about the Apollo 11 landing in July 1969, I was just wondering if anyone has any information as to any country minting a special coin next year to commemorate the 50th anniversary?
Cass,
Just added that coin to my wants list already, especially as it will be a silver dollar. I already have every silver dollar issued since 1983, so must keep up with them all.
Thanks.
I suppose, this will be the only country who will do it!
Well, don't conclude that just yet; I'm sure there's also going to be tons of other countries issuing NCLT coins to commemorate the event for some quick money.
A few years back, for example, Côte d'Ivoire issued coins to commemorate the 50th anniversaries of both Kennedy's Inauguration (1961) and his assassination (1963). So I'm sure there's going to be more for such a remarkable event.
Cook Islands is always good for exotic anniversary coins too.
The RCM (Royal Canadian Mint) did a coloured coin for a UFO sighting. They sold it with a small black light flashlight as it would glow in the dark. It was a bit much for me but I know people that bought it. It sold out quickly.
Just received an email from Westminster Mint, stating that they have for sale a 2019 coin from the Solomon Islands.
It weighs 5 ounces and costs £545.00 + £7.99 postage. It can be paid for in 10 monthly installments of £54.50.
It will be .999 silver with a mintage of only 150
ZacUK,
The image of the USA coin is also contained in the link from Cass.
Are you going to purchase the Solomon Islands coin. Might need to take out a mortgage.
Yes, I remember watching it also. Still vividly etched in my memory as if it was yesterday. Been hooked on the space ever since.
Sadly, as my wife says, I even watch the ISS go over every night it is possible to see. In our house in Spain at the moment, and seen it a few times here as well, plus other places in Europe, whilst on holiday.
I to have watch the ISS go by a few times here. I still have a image of the flag and I think Neil on the moon. If I remember you had to send in like 10 tang orange drink labels and a quarter. Got it back in 1970. The stuff we keep.

Mark,
I am in southern Spain, so will not see it again until Thursday, but for the next 3 or 4 sightings, they will only last under 2 minutes, so not the best.
Cass,
I was hoping for his/her own interpretation, so it was clear to all of us what the message was about.
Like I stated earlier, I was able to watch it on television.
I also have coins commemorating the event.
Cannot ever see any of it going on Netflix.
Best program of the Apollo 11 landings is called 'Moonwalk One'. Brilliantly 2 hours of television. I recorded it many years ago, and have watched it many times, especially when my wife is watching dancing or baking programs.
Check it out.
引用する: "brismike"The Royal Australian Mint has released the Moon Landing Anniversary coins in the Mint and Proof sets.
I have uploaded them to Numista

https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces152586.html <<<<< The 5 Cent coin
I was expecting the commemorative to be the $1 but having a Commemorative 5 cent as well is amazing.
No idea yet if they will go into circulation, probably not but you never know. At this stage they are NCLT.
Cheers Mike
Just had confirmation from the RAM that these two coins won't be released into circulation. They are NCLT only.

Just looked up the "2019 Royal Australian Mint Uncirculated Six Coin Year Set - Moon Landing 50th" on eBay and there would seem to be quite a few sets going for around $25 Australian dollars, though there are also some going on eBay for $100 AU. The Royal Australian Mint is selling them online for $25 AU and for just $22.73 AU to international buyers. I've no idea if an Australian eBay link will work for anyone outside of Australia, but here it is.
I wonder if any will have a portrait of Stanley Kubrick on the obverse? Infowars would be the perfect distributor, they could combine them with a free bottle of Brain Force.
Non illegitimis carborundum est. Excellent advice for all coins.
