Here is a proposition for a Quiz about the legends on our coins. The idea is to propose the legend of a coin, as complex as possible , not yet translated on Numista, but from an existing coin sheet (if it does not, then we'll create it ). And we have to find the meaning.
The first who finds, version latin, hungarian, russian, arab or or or, french and english translations when possible, proposes the next. And someone (I if no-one else) asks for the change of the sheet once we all agree. I will use that also to increase a future Numisdoc on abbreviations, an already started work.
And give some clues to check !
The Quiz will go on on both fora.
First try: DUX LOTHAR ETBAR S R I PCPS RE CA BO CO without punctuation due to the variants.

But ... I think I have it pretty close (me and Google go way back! )
DUX LOTHAR ETBAR S R I PCPS RE CA BO CO
is the abbreviation for:
Dux Lotharingiae Et Barri Sacri Romani Imperii Princeps Regiae Capellae Bohemicae Comes
Which, given the limitations of various translation services, approximates to:
The Chapel of the Holy Roman Empire of the Royal Princes, Duke of Lorraine and the Bohemian Earl of Barry

I'm not an expert in any kind of coins, but I reckon I'm good at research and will do my best to help. Feel free to tell me my identifications/valuations/gradings are wrong. It's the only way I'll learn.
Doh, I was getting there, kind of, but Google still wouldn't fully cooperate!
I had the following:
Duke of Lorraine and Bar, Holy Roman Empire, ??????, Kingdoms of ???, Bohemia, ???
BAR is literally Bar, and I believe this should be correct (formerly Bar-le-Duc Barrois).
BO = Bohemia, but I was guessing about RE = Kingdoms.
PC PS had me totally stumped. (Bad Google!! Kept giving me PlayStation and Xbox results! )
Is BizzoDoes 100% correct, and if not, what should the answer be? Really keen to know. I was trying to work out this challenge for the better part of last night!
Excellent idea! This is just the type of forum post we need more of. Coin collecting should be both fun and educational, what a great way of combining an educational trawl through obscure coin legends with an enjoyable challenge.
I'm looking forward to displaying my execrable language skills next time around.
Non illegitimis carborundum est. Excellent advice for all coins.
Make Numismatics Great Again!
Cool, thanks Ecapoe. I've finally won something! Yay!!
I'm going to be offline for the next few days, so won't be able to check this thread or do any research til mid next week. So I'm happy for you to choose the next one too.

So you're basically correct, except it's Francia (not Francise) and Franconia (not France), with Prince relating to the Holy Roman Empire, and Duke relating to Eastern Franconia.

I would say the latin is "Franconiae Orientalis", not much to do with France !
And there is a blank missing in the legend description on the sheet between P and F (... Princeps, Franconiae ...)
Money penny, you do the request for the modification of the sheet ? I'll do the french :)
So there is a dot between the P and F! I hadn't noticed until I looked at the coin photo again just now. Thought it seemed odd to run the two letters together! Okay, have submitted a request to have that corrected on Numista.
As for Franconiae, the link you supplied does seem to indicate this as the Latin version, and that's also what it says on the flip side of the coin.
Dei Gratia Maximilianus Iosephus Utriusque Bavariae [?][?] Dux [?][?][?] Sacri Romani Imperii Archapidifer et Elector, Landgravius Lichtenbergensis
By Gods Grace, Maximilian Joseph, Duke of both Bavarias and the Upper Palatinate, Count Palatine of the Rhine, Archapifer and Elector of the Holy Roman Empire, Landgrave of Leuchtenberg

Utriusque Sacrae Caesareae et Regiae Apostolicae Maiestatis consiliarius intimus et generalis campi marschallus, google-translated as "Both Sacred Imperial and Royal Apostolic Majesty intimate counselor and General Campus Marschall" (Kaiserlich-Königlich Generalfeldmarschall in German)
Briefly: this legend is written on the reverse side of a half-thaler. On the obverse we have NICOL.S.R.I.PRINC.-ESZTERHAZY DE GALANTHA (Nicolaus Sacri Romani Imperii princeps Eszterhazy de Galantha, I think it means Nicholas, prince of the Holy German Empire and prince Esterházy of Galántha) and on the edge HONORE ET VIRTUTE (Honor and power). Estimated weight between 13.83 & 13.85g, diameter 34mm. Mintage: 500 ex., Vienna. Common source: H# 37 (Holzmair Eduard)
