Hello,
I need your valuable advice about this coin. Is it silver or copper- nickel and whether it is proof or replica?
What will be the Approximate value of this?

Thanks for looking :)
Check the weight. It looks like a Silver genuine coin to me but I am not an expert for coins from Portugal.
Check my doubles ;)
Thanks for replying. Well it is available online for buying so i cannot weight. But in the listing seller has specified 26 gram
I think the copper-nickel has no frosted parts (face and map)
The silver one could have the frosted parts.
(I think!!!)

Non est totum quod splendet ut aurum
Rijkdom bestaat niet uit het hebben van veel bezittingen, maar in het hebben van weinig behoeften
1.500.00 were minted in Cu-Ni.  Market value 2,00 Euros.
There are also special coins in Silver BU (10.000), Silver Proof (15.000), Gold Proof (3.500) and Paladium Proof(2.500)

Thanks for replying. You mean it is a proof coin ? As seller has listed this coin as a proof. Any idea how much should it cost i had already check at ngc if it is silver
After 1985, our local mint ,INCM (Imprensa Macional Casa da Moeda), started producing huge quantities of comemorative coins and, each one, in Cu-Ni, silver and paladium.  It was one serie every month.
I give up of buing those coins and so did most of the collectors.
Most of the silver, gold and paladium coins were remelted since nobody want them.
Presently, the Portuguese dealers, have tons of the Cu-Ni coins and sell them for less than 2 euros.
The silver coins have a value, in the Portuguese catalagues, of 18 Euros each but are sold for less than10 Euros.

I have just swap, from D. Carlos a 1/2Tanga + 1 Rupia.  They are still to be packed. I have others from Port India, like the 1 Rupia/Luis I and a few more.  The Atia 1778 I only have the one whose picture is in Numista page.
Check my swap list.  May be you find something.
