AD 1657 Liard Mint Mark ‘A’ — Paris or Corbeil? [解決]

Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding the mint mark on a 1657 Liard of Louis XIV.

The reverse of my coin clearly shows the mint mark “A” (photo attached).

However, I found conflicting information:

  • Numista lists the mint as Corbeil.
  • The KP catalog identifies “A” as the Paris Mint.

As far as I know, in most French royal coinage the mint mark “A” usually refers to Paris. Because of this, I am confused about why Numista attributes this issue to Corbeil.

Could anyone clarify which attribution is correct for the 1657 Liard?

Thank you very much for your help.

Give to Corbeil in “Monnaies Royales Françaises 1610 - 1792 Edition V. Gadoury" 🙂
