Official Senegal?

Why this coin has no reference?

Senegal coins are very sought for collectors and they sell for high value.

But now there is this thin “coins ” popping everywhere

How do we know it is official and not just a souvenir or a token/medal?

I suggest moving to exonumia until more proof of officiality is known.

It has no reference code for the same reason 88 other coins listed under Senegal since 1975 have no reference code: KM hasn't issued any reference codes for Senegal issues since 1975 and no Numista contributor has reported another reference for the coins.

As far as moving the coin listing, why do you pick on this item out of the 89? Is this one less likely to be an official issue than the others?

If you have evidence just edit the listing and change the category. There are links at the top and bottom of each page to start an edit. That will start a discussion with the referee about where the item belongs.

We welcome contributions, but please read the Guidelines and the type descriptions first.

I selected this example because it is the one I have recently observed appearing in quantities on the market

Also there is the same style from other countries as well ( N#336086 ), clearly from another convenient “hard to get country”, what I think is at least suspicious that someone wanted  some profit creating this coins.

I do not possess proof that these coins are unofficial, cause the burden of proof lies with the contributor who added them to the catalog.

But recently there are some questionable entries, including duplicates and even upside down images, that I always fix when I have the knowledge to do that, but that suggests some coins may have  been added without any research.

Well, the Niger paper-thin gold coins have a km# number, so I might be wrong, but In dubio, veritas quaerenda est.
