54 years since last launch to the moon.

So far so good, hope they keep it up.
Translunar injection completed.
Now they're en route to the moon.
Here we are, the great moment.
They are right now on the far side of the moon.
Farther from the earth than the previous record from the Apollo 13 mission. The Apollo 13 mission!
They have just returned from the other side of the moon, that 40-minute period of radio silence is over and communications have been re-established.
Can't wait to see the photos.

You realize if you went to the moon, everyone on this site would be asking you to bring them back moon coins? 😁
Nice one.
But… Would we have moon coins and notes, or solely a lunar digital currency?
Years ago I've read a book, the only moon city uses what it seems to be a digital currency, no mention of coins and notes I think. I remember that their currency unit is based on the cost of taking materials to the moon.
It's Artemis by Andy Weir. Same author of The Martian and Project Hail Mary (which got a movie that has just premiered).
I remember the early moon landings where they proved the old theory
from Galileo, where an astronaut dropped a feather and something else.
As there is a vacuum they both dropped at the same rate. So I guess it
would be the same for a moon coin and a moon banknote. 🚀
Edit - found this, and the other item was a hammer, in 1971 >
I remember the Apollo 11 landing on the moon. 🤩
We were up at our cottage (no TV) & my dad said we were going for a drive. This was very odd & he would not tell us what it was about. We only went to the dump once we got to our cottage (to dispose of our garbage) but instead we drove to the lake's Community Centre. There were many cars parked. A couple of elevated TVs were set up & crowds of cottagers were surrounding them sounding quite excited. While Mum told us about the “man on the moon” I don't think we actually understood why it was important. It was in B&W, hot, humid and a lot of people were in one's personal space, but I remember pretty clearly the landing & seeing Armstrong walk in his space suit (which is pretty remarkable considering how young I was!) I also remember the sound being fairly poor & Walter Cronkite yapping on about technical stuff that was over my head, but overall, it was pretty darn cool!
And the crew is back on Earth in one piece.
Time to celebrate these four people who went to the moon and returned for the first time in 50 years.
Do we think the Artemis III mission will get attention, considering the astronaut part will be exclusively in low earth orbit?
My opinion is that there will be quite a bit of interest because we will get to see the lander(s) for the first time with astronauts transferring across and doing tests, then I guess after the crew comes back to earth the lander(s) should go off and attempt to land uncrewed on the moon, deliver something (as it would make sense to do so), and then return to Lunar orbit. Both lander contracts have an uncrewed demonstration mission written in, only after they are successful at that will they be used with astronauts onboard for a Lunar landing attempt, but maybe because no one is going to the moon on Artemis III, the press might just ignore it or the world won’t be so interested. What do you think?
The ‘funny’ thing is, if there is some accident, then there will be TOO much coverage.
I made this shirt design for Artemis II. Was surprised that several people bought it.
