They follow the same philosophy as the Greek Euro cents which have the word lepta on the back .Using the old word instead of the foreign cent . Also since stotinka is basically cent tranaslated in to Bulgarian to begin with - sto means one hundred so a stotinka is literally a onehudredth ,the 2 stotinki is a two hudredth , 5 stotinki is a 5 hundredth , and so on .

I don't know if you can call this cheating or not , but since I live in Bulgaria, and we are joining the Euro, I have been getting brand new shiny 2026 Bulgarian Euro coins in my change all month now .It's rare I get a euro that 's not from BG , since it is so early that the foreign euro coins have not yet mixed in to our change that much .I've had all denominations pass through my hands already (I also have spent most of them already too) .There are just so many shiny coins out there right now , it's surreal ! Still , to prove that I have indeed come across the new coins , here is a pic of set of BG euros , all of which i got from circulation

That is one cool looking design ! Although I myself would have put some of the lettering elsewhere - the 1776 -2026 and Liberty would have been better off on both sides of the people and under the 25c respectively , since their current positions make them either weird looking( half in the bust , half not ) or a bit illegible( hidden in the waves ) .
Already claimed by now I know but thought appropriate for the subject and all of us numismatists here that collect Euros. A Bulgarian 1 and 2 Euro coin found 1 day between each other in a small town on the Rhine in Germany from 2 businesses 2 minutes away from each other. 2 Euro coin from a cigarette kiosk and 1 Euro from a Turkish kebab shop. I guess if you want to find Bulgarian euro coins outside of Bulgaria, engage in balkan activities 😎. Finding these on my trip was the highlight for my hobby. I couldn't believe I found them so far west from Bulgaria so quickly into the year.

My father found a Bulgaria 20 cent in Malta during his trip. Best find ever. And even better coming from my father looking out for any different euro coins he's never seen. These coins have travelled fast.
