1910 Excelsior Shoe Company Boy Scout Medallion – Version 4, Variety 1

My question is about the chain that came with my medal that I found. In all my research I can’t find any medals like mine with a chain. I tried to find advertising and photos, but to no avail. Did these medals come with a chain and if so, Is mine an original chain that came with the medal. Does it make the medal more collectible with the chain?

This token was probably not given with a metallic chain as it was given with a pair of “official boy scout shoes” and if there had been a cord to hang it, it would surely have been a shoelace :)

There are many varieties for this 4th version. Yours is probably type 3.
