This should have 1997 in the year list.
It was probably left out as the two dates commemorate different events (which should be noted somewhere), but are the same.

   On NumisMaster they give KM# 940.2a for the 1997 version; whereas the 1996 in your link is 940.1a  :)

No, there is another 1997 silver proof 50p of the large variety (13.5g). Your link is to the smaller one from the same set (8g).

There was a set in 1997 that included a large and a small 50p (in silver), to commemorate the changeover.

I seriously considered paying £8.50 for a new 2013 50p today was the original design but was for what ever reason dropped love the coat of arms !
