Hi,

Is it possible to register the Gold & Silver marks too on the coin/year-line??

In the Netherkands we are using these marks (site us in Dutch) :

https://www.dawsongold.nl/werkwijze/keurtekens-goud-en-zilver/

And this site too (in Dutch too), with several countries :

https://www.keurtekens.nl/belgie.php

Hopefully we can add those marks to (besides  the ‘other marks’).

With regards.
Bert.

Hello,
Sure, we can add these marks. I changed the type of forum thread accordingly. Could you please help explaining these marks in English?

We would need the following information for each mark:

- The meaning of the mark

- The date range when the mark was used

- A black and white image of the mark (SVG, PNG or JPG 200 ⨯ 200 pixels)

(Adapted from the guidelines: https://en.numista.com/help/add-or-modify-a-mark-in-the-catalogue-201.html)

Xavier,

do you mean this??

925 is used for “sterling silver” and 585 for 14carat gold. Both are used in the Netherlands on coins.

every country has its own marks.

i don’t know if there is any wikidata info about those marks.

Both are added. Can you point us to an existing numista entry using them, to test them?

bonjour,

The initial question is legitim but the answer bring some question regarding the guidelines:

Please post a request on the forum indicating:

  1. the mint (copy the link from Numista to avoid misunderstandings)
  2. the name of the person whose mark is the signature
  3. its Wikidata code (for example, Q3179749 for Joaquin Jimenez in Paris mint)
  4. the role of this person in the mint, in English, French and Spanish
  5. some sources that document the existence of this person
  6. the date range in which this person had this specific role
  7. a short description of the mark in English, French and Spanish
  8. a black and white image of the mark (SVG, PNG or JPG 200 ⨯ 200 pixels); if the mark is made on non-stylised letters, you specify the letters instead of providing a picture.

If we use the mark field to show these marks then points 1 to 6 are inaplicable, so we need to update the guidelines.

Always look on the bright side of life!

Why only 1 of the 2 year lines?

And where exactly is it on this coin?  I see a fish.

Why only 1 of the 2 year lines?

Because the presence of the mark or not is the reason why there are 2 yearlines

And where exactly is it on this coin?  I see a fish.

Good question, probably on the edge?

Except the edge is Plain.

Here's a different coin (N#248663 ). The mark is obvious.

Oh, duh!  That coin picture is one of the X# 71.2 without the mark.  Probably should add a picture in the comments so people know what to look for.

On this coin there is no COMMENT, like there is some on other coins!

Yes, that type of comment should be added on any coin page that doesn't show the symbol.

Bonjour,

Est-ce possible de mettre la traduction française sur la version FR pour ce poinçon or 585 néerlandais?

Merci!
