Portugal 2 cent 1918 in Iron

Hey all,

Long time lurker, I think first post. I'm a Portuguese person living in the US. I have a fairly nice collection of Portuguese coins and currency and am now on the hunt for the rarer pieces. Including some pretty expensive coins and currency.

One of the coins on my list is KM 567 the 1918 2 centavos in Iron. I've found it in raw but I am a little leery as the weight was around 4.7 grams and it was slightly worn. Which triggered a warning that it was a 568 (2 centavos in bronze), are there any signs to look for with this coin? Am I better off getting one third party graded? I'm assuming if its magnetic is one way. Are there any others? Is this counterfeited?

Thanks

You should also take high resolution pictures of your coin in question how should we know how worn the coin is? But if it's just the 0.1g difference on a very cheaply made coin I wouldn't worry that much. Like you said the magnetic properties are a very good text if someone just coated a coin.

Weight is the last thing you have to worry about: -The discs of the coins are made with low quality sheet iron; there is therefore a wide variation in thickness and weight.
Due to the poor quality of iron, corrosion is also a big problem.
This is why a coin in a superior state of conservation is very expensive.
