I think my grandson and I have identified the country for his new coins except for this one.  It seems like I should recognize this - it looks familiar to me but drawing a blank.  I am sure someone will know it immediately.
I can tell you for sure that it's a coin from Thailand!

I could not make out the date.
Thank you for your quick replies.  Is there a place that will me with reading the date?
Well, I'm not sure about that. As of now I'm trying to see where the date is to help you out but no idea as of now  B.  I'll probably ask someone that is familiar with the language and find out from there  :wiz:
I think that it's either a 1999 one or a 2003 one  :`
I will have to try for a larger and more clear picture.

Can you actually see the characters on this coin well enuf to convert to 1999?  I need better eyes! Thanks for the link too.
Yes :) the date is on the top right and when I put them in, it ended up as 1999
Absolutely ประเทศไทย (Pratheṣ̄thịy)

Copper-nickel clad Copper – 7.5 g – ø 24 mm
Y# 219

And your question, probably

Year: Suriyakati 2542 (Gregorian 1999) พ.ศ.๒๕๔๒

Did you know when you turn a coin and the coin is upside down then it´s orientation is medal alignment otherwise the coin got a coin alignment speak the reverse is always up ?
Thank you MWeber for the detail.  I am curious why some coins get medal alignment (always thought that was strange when you turn a coin and it is upside down).  Guess I need to do some reading on the subject!

Well ... yes and no. Your description is slightly ambiguous because it depends in which way you turn the coin. It's actually easier to show the difference than it is to describe:

Just because you can't see it ... doesn't mean it isn't there - Anon.

Ok, agreed, the good old wiki offers an additional rather acceptable explanation, too.
