8R 1803 Mexico is not "the" most common of the mexican colonial coins, but it is a coin of the Carolus IIII series which you can find easily. So, the risk of getting a fake is low . Regarding weight and diameter (including colour and general appearance in the picture) your piece looks ok, and despite of being a bit worn I would keep it.
