Haim Gitler (born 1962) is an Israeli numismatist and archaeologist, serving as Chief Curator of Archaeology and Curator of Numismatics at the Israel Museum, Jerusalem, and President of the Israel Numismatic Society. Born in Mexico and based in Israel since 1974, he holds degrees in archaeology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a PhD from Nicolaus Copernicus University in Poland.
Gitler specializes in the coinages of late Persian and early Hellenistic Palestine and has published extensively across a wide range of numismatic subjects. He has curated major exhibitions, taught at Israeli universities, and has served on numerous scholarly and governmental committees, including the Bank of Israel's advisory board on coins and banknotes. In 2022, he became the first Israeli elected to the International Numismatic Council Committee and was awarded the 2024 Joseph Eckhel Medal by the Austrian Numismatic Society.
