Euro 2000 'Token' - Royal Belgian Mint

3 posts

Hi everyone,

I have a small 'Token' that I am struggling to find anywhere online?
  • The token is 20mm in diameter and 2mm thick. (The edge is plain).
  • It shows the Euro 2000 logo on the face
  • It shows a football design on the reverse with two tiny emblems (One is a pair of scales and the other may be a shield or crest?
  • Probably Nickel or a Nickel composite?

The coin was within a small batch of coins from the Royal Belgian Mint so, I presume, it originates from here also?

I'd be really interested to find out a little more about it?

Look forward to any advice...?
Steve
Hello,

The scale and the other symbol (bishop hat ?) are often found on modern belgian coins and tokens, alone or together. I'm not really sure of what it represents... (a bit ashamed since I live in Belgium). I think it's for the engraver (as well as LL is for Luc Luycx), but I'm not sure to a 100%.

I have too a token with these symbols but I can't identify it properly

Thanks for this info. Hopefully, we'll find some information on the tokens?
