Need help identifying Chinese/Taiwanese coins.

8 posts
Hello, I recently bought these two coins, and after looking through my coin book, and numista, I was not able to find them anywhere. I did find similar coins, but I am pretty sure they are different. I believe both coins are either copper or bronze. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

The first coin has a diameter of about 32 mm, and a thickness of 1.5 mm to 1.7 mm. I do not have a scale specific enough to find the weight. It reads, "Ho-Nan", and I believe "20 Cash"

The second coin has a diameter of about 42.9 mm and a thickness of 1.9 mm to 2.3 mm. It also weighs slightly more than 25 grams. it reads, "The Republic of China, 200 Cash"

Thanks for your help! If you need more information or better pictures, I will do what I can to get it for you.
They're both China - Republic.

Did you check there?

The second one, which I think isn't on Numista yet, is China - Republic, Szechuan, Y#459 (var). It's really hard to see, but it's certainly copper and it's real. These are much rarer than other Rep. coins.

The first one I think is already on here, China - Republic, Honan 20 Cash. https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces21615.html

Maybe your second coin looks like one of these (which I also think is Y# 459)  ...

I think Year 2 (on your picture and mine) means it is 1913 date.

Thank you very much! No, I did not see the coin on there, but thank you for finding it for me. I paid 7 cents for the second coin, was that a very good deal?

Yeah, that is what the coin looks like. Thank you so much!
Oh wow.

The coin is maybe worth 5, 10 bucks? For 7 cents you're a millionaire.

Even I don't have that coin. Plus it's a 200 Cash, which is much more uncommon than a 10 or 20 cash.

By the way, it has a face value of 0.2 when you're adding the coin.

I made a good deal then haha. I added the coin. I didn't have much info to add to it though, but I did put what you told me.
Cool!

I'll modify the coin and verify it for you.

Here's a list of the variants of your coin. http://secure.numismaster.com/ta/Coins.admin?rnd=WXFASJMC&@impl=coins.ui.ucatalog.flat.coin.UiControl_FindResults&@prms=536561726368547970653d31&@windowId=GSBPC&Ext=login&Origin=-1&AdvanceSearch=0&PRefine=&Country=China%20%20Szechuan&Denom=200%20Cash&CountryId=&DenomId=&KM=&Comp=&Date=1913
