Then the mint : Ministry of defense or Court guard ?
Non of them correspond exactly to your coin
引用する: "LCW1991"Turn 180 degrees on the first picture to get the right orientation, this is the reverse side of the coin.
The Upper text is not clear but I bet it is “戶”, treasury department.
The lower text is obviously “玄” (Pronounced like “Hyon”, one among the Thousand Character Classic.
30mm shows that is is 2 Mun coin, which can identify as km80(small text) / km81(large text) if all of the information is correct.
Chris
P.S. Authenticity looks fine for me
In the SCWC, 2 MUN of the 18th century are mentionned with these following characteristics : diam : 29-30 mm, weight varies from 8 to 9 grams, and we may guess an erased character at left on reverse.
For the series TREASURY DEPARTMENT, there is w/o character at left:
KM# 80 - 2 MUN - ND(1742-52) Cast Copper Or Brass Rev: “Hyon” at bottom Note: Small characters. Weight varies 8.00-9.00 grams.
Too heavy.
So it's more likeky a coin of the 19th century
But there is no "2 Mun" listed on my SCWC version and "5 Mun" described with a diam of 30 mm get a fourth characrater at the right of the reverse.
So ... This coin is still awaiting identification
I do velieve the lower character is 玄, and the top character is户. But it's too worn to make ou the character on the left. I took the liberty to rotate the picture, which makes things a little clearer:
I marked as solved because I found it as the 2 Mun coin in the catalogue (but I am not sure about the weight and diameter, because it is not in hands yet).
But the series I think it will be impossible to ID.
