This folder is dedicated to the 150th Anniversary of the Finnish Mint.
Contains 1 silver medal commemorating the first Finnish markka of 1864.
On 4 April 1860, Tsar Alexander II of Russia issued a decree allowing Finland to mint its own currency, the markka, worth a quarter of the Russian ruble. Around the same time, the mint was built in Katajanokka (Helsinki). The first coins (silver marks) were minted on 15 October 1864 .
