Titanium (chemical symbol Ti) is a strong, lightweight metal with a silvery-grey appearance and exceptional corrosion resistance. It is significantly harder than most metals used for coinage, making it difficult and costly to strike. Therefore titanium is used exclusively for collector coins. Titanium is also notable for its ability to be anodized, producing a range of vivid iridescent colours through surface oxidation without the use of dyes or pigments.
