コメント

(en)

King Armah was the last Christian king of the Aksumite Empire to issue coins; he is known almost exclusively through these. With the rise of Islam and the establishment of the Umayyad Caliphate, trade with the Eastern Roman Empire ceased. The coins produced for international trade subsequently declined in importance, and the Aksumite Empire moved towards isolation. Armah is possibly identical with Ashama ibn Abjar, the Aksumite king who converted to Islam according to Muslim sources.
