In 1976 and 1977 there were variants with mintmark PM on obverse only and on both side of the coin (on obverse and on reverse). In coins minted in 1978 and 1979, the mintmark is always on both sides.

There are (at least) five variants of 1976 KM#36.1 distinguished by the position of the Reverse PM mark:

Position 3 is possibly a re-punched Position 2.

Coins issued in 1979 has the Triskelion privy mark in addition. This is to celebrate the Millennium of Tynwald (Manx Parliament) which was created in 979 according to the legends (which is unlikely according the historians).

Ten pence coins were also issued in presentation packs, similar to the blue wallets released for decimalisation in the UK. These included an information card for public use. For more details, see the links in set section.
