The fountain on the back, named as “Cupid and the Swan”, was built to commemorate the inauguration of the first underground drinking water pipe in Costa Rica. It can be found today at the front of the Carlos Monge library at the University of Costa Rica.

Joaquin B. Calvo was a magistrate of the Supreme Court of Justice and president of the legislative branch
